Skylanders Giants Variants

While it is certainly true that the majority of the new Skylanders Giants characters are nice, I honestly enjoy hunting down the rare Skylanders Giants variants that have suddenly started appearing out of nowhere. Unlike Spyro’s Adventure, there are a ton of awesome chase figures for sale if you know what to look for.

While it is certainly true that the majority of the new Skylanders Giants characters are nice, I honestly enjoy hunting down the rare Skylanders Giants variants that have suddenly started appearing out of nowhere. Unlike Spyro's Adventure, there are a ton of awesome chase figures for sale if you know what to look for.

With that being said, here are our personal favorites when it comes to the latest Skylanders Giants variants and chase figures.

Skylanders Giants Glitter Variants

Skylanders Giants Glitter Hot Head

There is no hotter Skylanders Giants chase figure on the market right now than these super awesome silver sparkle variants.

Painting with a marvelous metallic white paint, these figures are artfully accented with sensational sparkles and a touch of gold.

These figures are so rare that they are even difficult to find on eBay; which almost never happens.

With that being said, I would grab one IF I could get my hands on one for less than $300.

Currently, you can find this super rare version for Sprocket, Sonic Boom, and Hot Head!

Skylanders Giants Gnarly Tree Rex

One of the more interesting things Activision did with the release of the new Skylanders Giants game is to offer exclusive variants to different console providers.

Take this Gnarly Tree Rex chase figure for example.

Instead of making this rare Skylanders toy available in stores, it was released exclusively as part of the Wii Starter Pack Bundle. Since the going price for this bundle is somewhere north of $100, buying it solely for the figure is unrealistic for many collectors.

As such, the secondary market for this Skylanders Giants Gnarly Tree Rex is massive indeed. The last time I checked, this metallic blue monstrosity was selling for around $75; which is only $25 or so less than the new Wii bundle starter pack!

Skylanders Giants Glow in the Dark Fright Rider

The first of the Skylanders Giants variants to be released this season was the fantastic glow in the dark Fright Rider. The only problem, as I see it, is that this rare chase figure was only released in the UK for some reason.

As such, it is becoming more and more difficult to find online. It would not surprise me in the least to see this figure sell for north of $100 leading up to Christmas day!

I actually want this figure to display in my office.

How cool would it be to have a glow in the dark undead Ostrich being ridden by a fanatical elf sitting on a shelf?

Skylanders Giants Punch Pop Fizz

Punch Pop Fizz is yet another store exclusive; this time being a WalMart exclusive. This variant figure comes as part of the 3DS starter pack which currently sells for around $70.

As a way to save a few bucks, many collectors are simply buying these figures loose on sites such as Amazon or eBay.

This allows them to complete their collections without having to shell out additional money for figures that they already own.
